    Jalen Berger, former Don Bosco star, returns to NJ and helps UCLA defeat Rutgers football

    PISCATAWAY – Playing back in his home state, UCLA football running back Jalen Berger scored the touchdown that ultimately sent the Bruins past Rutgers on Saturday .

    Berger, a Don Bosco Prep product and Newark native, caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ethan Garbers early in the fourth quarter of UCLA’s eventual 35-32 win over the Scarlet Knights at SHI Stadium.

    Berger also ran 10 times for 28 yards.

    The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Berger, who played with Rutgers star running back Kyle Monangai in high school, is playing for his third college program.

    Berger committed to Wisconsin as a four-star prospect and the No. 3 overall recruit in New Jersey for the 2020 recruiting class. He spent two seasons with the Badgers before transferring to Michigan State, then to UCLA after two years with the Spartans.

    On Saturday in New Jersey, Berger made a big play to help get the Bruins their first Big Ten win of the season.
