BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley County agents working on the United States Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force have been busy recently.

    Drug Trafficking Case

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, agents recently served three felony warrants on Christina M. Atkinson. Deputies said Atkinson had active warrants for trafficking methamphetamine and possession with the intent to distribute a scheduled narcotic (two counts).

U.S. Marshals worked to locate Atkinson who was found in Colleton County at her grandparent’s residence. Deputies said they got Atkinson’s grandparents to come out of the home, but Atkinson refused.

    Attempted Murder, Kidnapping Case

Agents said they recently located a suspect who was wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping after a very serious assault call. U.S. Marshals were contacted by Berkeley County detectives in reference to Leonard A. Thorne.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Thorne was involved in an assault that occurred off Liberty Hall Road in Goose Creek.

Authorities said Thorne preyed on the victim and waited for him to leave his house. Once the victim left his house, Thorne assaulted him severely by beating him with a crowbar. Thorne kidnapped and assaulted the victim from 5 a.m. until approximately 8 p.m. With the assistance of Hanahan Police Department, Thorne was taken into custody.

Both Atkinson and Thorne have been lodged into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
