MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating a death that occurred at the Hill Finklea Detention Center in Moncks Corner over the weekend.

Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell said that on Saturday around 11:36 p.m. his office was notified of a death at the jail following a female inmate experiencing a medical emergency.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and medical staff responded to a pod where the inmate was unresponsive. They attempted to perform live-saving measures while waiting for Berkeley County EMS. However, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was notified to conduct an investigation into the death, per BCSO and state protocol.

Hartwell identified the inmate as Harmoney F. Timmer, 30, of Ladson.

An autopsy has been scheduled to help determined the cause and manner of death.

these people don't do their jobs they don't care about anybody and someone says they're sick or doesn't feel well or whatever the case may be it should be taken seriously unless of course it's a child molester

that jail isn't that clean. when I worked there most of the time we had 2-3 officers running the whole back of the jail. or they were in booking hanging out with the brass. not doing their job. I left because a female officer assaulted a female inmate and when I reported it, I had a target on my back. it was swept under the rug. no integrity there.
