    Violations:

    S&G, 4142 Monroe , inspected March 13. The person-in-charge failed to ensure employees sanitize equipment and utensils properly or wash their hands properly. The three-bay sink was blocked by merchandise stock piled in front of and upon it, and damaged returns were in and on the sink. The three-bay sink also was dirty and had broken glass on it. Stacked merchandise also blocked access to the mop sink and hand-washing sink. The cappuccino machine’s components floated in liquid in the red sanitizer buckets that are for wipe cloths only. Food-contact surfaces were not properly washed, rinsed, and sanitized. Coffee urns were extremely dirty inside and had not been washed in a long time. Big AZ and Jimmy Dean sandwiches in the cooler lacked date marks. Anti-freeze was stored incorrectly stored above foods in the store’s office area.

    XZ Mart, 2007 W. Sylvania , inspected March 15. The coffee brewer’s drain plumbing lacked an air gap or other approved method to prevent sewage backflow.

    McDonald’s , 5057 Monroe, inspected March 15. The chemical dish machine did not dispense chlorine sanitizer during the final rinse.

    Hahny’s Smash Burgers & Bakes , 625 Heidelberg, inspected March 15. Raw shell eggs were stored incorrectly above beef in the single-door cooler.

    Dollar General , 4400 Heatherdowns, inspected March 15. Multiple containers of expired baby food were offered for sale.

    Burger King , 4870 Monroe, inspected March 15. Washed coffee pitchers and lids were dirty with buildup. Raw bacon and liquid eggs not in use were too warm.

    Barnes & Noble Booksellers , 4940 Monroe, inspected March 15. A sign was stored improperly on the hand-washing sink basin and a stepstool was stored in front of the sink.

    Glass City Center - Main Kitchen , 401 Jefferson, inspected March 16. The meat slicer was dirty with buildup. Beans were holding at an unsafe temperature.

    Burger Guys , 5001 Monroe, inspected March 12. The ice machine’s slide was dirty with buildup. Two chemical spray bottles containing degreaser and chlorine sanitizer lacked labels.

    The Toddler House Learning Academy , 2259 S. Byrne, inspected March 18. The person-in-charge did not know how to calibrate the facility’s food thermometer, which had not been calibrated in over a year.

    PizzAroma , 855 S. Holland-Sylvania, inspected March 18. Working chemical containers lacked proper labels.

    Meijer Gas Station , 7240 W. Central, inspected March 18. Tornados lacked proper date marks.

    Grape Leaf Express , 5236 Monroe, inspected Feb. 1. No person-in-charge qualified in food safety was present during inspection. The amount, nature, and repetitiveness of violations indicate the license-holder has not ensured qualified people oversee food safety. Employees’ maintenance of safe food temperatures during hot and cold holding was not managed. Food temperatures were not being properly monitored. A pot of rice on the stove was not hot enough. Two large containers full of grape leaves sitting out of refrigeration were too warm. Gyro meat and cut tomato in the sandwich prep-top cooler and cups of tzatziki in the small prep-top cooler were too warm. Large containers of soup in the walk-in cooler and containers of hummus in the reach-in cooler lacked date marks. A spray bottle holding a purple liquid had no label.

    Subway , 1465 Secor, inspected March 19. The dining room pop nozzles were dirty with black buildup. Foods in the under-counter cooler behind the make line were too warm.

    Subway , 5447 Secor, inspected March 19. An employee did not wash hands before preparing food.

    Genesis Village , 2429 S. Reynolds, inspected March 19. The dishwasher did not dispense chlorine sanitizer at a proper concentration. The can opener blade was dirty with food debris. A garbage bag was used improperly to cover the Hobart chopper. Several utensil bins were dirty with debris and a sticky substance. Ziploc bags of hot dogs and a bag of sliced turkey in a pan lacked date marks.

    Beauty Bar , 2919 W. Central, inspected March 11. Employees were not verifiably informed of their duty to report illnesses relevant to food safety. Employee health training could not be verified.

    Robinson Elementary School , 1075 Horace, inspected March 20. Multiple packages of spaghetti and meatballs sitting out on the prep table were too warm. Smile fries improperly sat out at room temperature.

    J & D’s Sidetrip , 1534 W. Sylvania, inspected March 20. The bartender touched limes for drinks with bare hands.

    Hampton Inn & Suites , 3434 Secor, inspected March 20. Waffle batter on the breakfast bar was too warm. Ice cream novelties in the retail cooler lacked labels.

    Barry Bagels , 3444 Secor, inspected March 20. The fountain beverage dispenser’s ice chute was dirty with buildup. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer in the wipe bucket and from the dispenser was too weak.

    University Carry Out , 1852 W. Bancroft, inspected March 21. Single-use items on retail shelves were stored below toxic chemicals.

    S&G , 2125 S. Byrne, inspected March 21. The back hand-washing sink was blocked.

    St. John’s Jesuit High School , 5901 Airport, inspected March 21. The slicer was dirty with buildup. Working chemical containers lacked proper labels. Consumer-grade ant and roach spray was illegally used in the kitchen. Food-contact surfaces were not easy to clean.

    McDonald’s , 3008 Monroe, inspected March 21. There were mouse droppings throughout the office area and gnawed cardboard near the ice machine. Old, unnecessary items were stored in cardboard boxes next to the ice machine.

    Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant , 4705 Talmadge, inspected March 20. Neither the under-counter high-temperature dish machine nor the conveyor dish machine got hot enough during final rinse.

    Caribbean Breeze , 1830 W. Bancroft, inspected March 21. Raw shell eggs were stored incorrectly above ready to eat foods and ​salad dressings. Containers of food in the steam table lacked date marks.

    Burger King , 1940 S. Byrne, inspected March 21. A box of gloves was stored improperly on the hand-washing sink and exposed to contamination from soap, dirty water, and grime from people’s hands. The dishware drying racks were sticky and dirty. The ice machine’s drain plumbing had an insufficient air gap to prevent backflow prevention.

    Better Health Market , 3344 Secor, inspected March 21. Raw shell eggs were stored incorrectly above raw steaks.

    Kidz Watch , 6801 W. Central, inspected March 22. A spoon was placed improperly in the prep line hand-washing sink.

    Dearborn Carryout , 433 Dearborn, inspected March 22. Water pressure at the hand-washing sink next to the three-bay sink was very low.

    S&G , 1301 W. Sylvania, inspected March 25. The hand-washing sink was so buried with other items that employees did not know of its existence. Jimmy Dean sandwiches in the cooler lacked date marks.

    Courtyard by Marriott , 3536 Secor, inspected March 25. Two containers of pico de gallo had expired date marks. Ice cream bars and other novelties in the retail freezer lacked labelling for individual sale.

    China Experience , 5001 Monroe, inspected March 25. A bowl of food was stored improperly on top of other uncovered food in the reach-in cooler. House-made sauces were not date marked.

    I wouldn't step foot on or in an S&G store. One or another is constantly on this list. This time, it is THREE stores. If they can't keep premises clean enough to pass code, then what about their gas? I am not chancing it with my car.
