    Track and field roundup: Oak Harbor boys claim victory at Division II district meet

    OAK HARBOR, Ohio — Oak Harbor defended its home track on Saturday, winning the Division II boys track and field district competition.

    The Rockets scored 131 points, topping second-place Eastwood’s 107. Central Catholic (66) was third, followed by Clyde (60) and Lake (47).

    Sandusky Perkins won the girls meet with 111 points, Oak Harbor was second at 85, followed by Port Clinton (79), Lake (71.5), and Clyde (62).

    Oak Harbor’s Tyler Thompson claimed a sprint double in the boys meet, with the junior claiming the 100-meter dash in 10.90 seconds and the 200 in 21.98. Sophomore Wyatt Augsburger had a hurdles double, winning the 110 hurdles in 14.88 and the 300 hurdles in 40.14.

    Rockets sophomore Bodee Miller won the 800 in 1:58.74, while their 1,600 relay team won in 3:25.76. Senior Evan Hall won the shot put with an attempt of 53 feet, 3¾ inches.

    Elmwood’s Jakob Zibbel secured a distance double, winning the 1,600 in 4:37.44 and the 3,200 in 10:10.35. Senior teammate Micah Oliver won the high jump by clearing 6-6.

    Central Catholic won the 800 relay in 1:28.30, while Fighting Irish sophomore Victor Singleton won the long jump with a 21-8¼ attempt. Eastwood sophomore Cullen Shank took the pole vault by clearing 13 feet. Genoa senior Caleb Gittus won the discus with a 145-7 throw.

    Central Catholic junior Nyla King racked up a sprint double in girls competition, winning the 100 in a meet-record time of 11.84 seconds and the 200 in 24.78.

    Oak Harbor’s 1,600 relay team set a meet record, winning in 4:00.73, while the school’s 3,200 relay team prevailed in 9:51.45. Rockets junior Camdyn Fauver won the 100 hurdles in 16.09.

    Lake ninth-grader Savannah Little won the 400 in 56.11, while junior teammate Lauren Parsons won the long jump with a 16-6½ attempt.

    Port Clinton sophomore Morgan Wiechman was first in the 1,600 in 5:25.10. Sophomore teammate Michaela Stork won the discus with a 126-10 attempt.

    Eastwood junior Leah Emch claimed the 3,200 title in 11:27.63. Fostoria ninth-grader Azhzenet Hatter won the 300 hurdles in 46.09. Genoa senior Lillian Frias cleared 5-6 to win the high jump.

    DIVISION I-FINDLAY

    FINDLAY — A deep Findlay squad won the Division I girls track and field district meet on its own track, while the Findlay boys tied for the district title.

    The Findlay girls, who picked up just two event victories, finished first with 111 points, edging second-place Fremont Ross (106.5), which had four field-event victories. Mansfield Madison (73) was third, followed by Tiffin Columbian (63) and Ashland (59).

    In boys competition, Findlay and Ashland each finished with 115 points. Fremont Ross was third with 107 points, followed by Lima Shawnee (76) and Celina (51½).

    Findlay’s girls won the 800 relay in 1:44.92. Trojans sophomore Natalie Gutman prevailed in the 800 in 2:19.81.

    Fremont Ross swept the throwing events, with junior Reese Smith taking the discus with a 124-7 throw and ninth-grader Tierra Parker claiming the shot put with a 37-1½ attempt. Little Giants junior Lyndi Wolf cleared 5-4 to win the high jump, while junior Danika Denman cleared 10-8 to take the pole vault.

    In boys competition, Findlay had victories in five events.

    The Trojans claimed victory in the 400 relay (42.61) and the 3,200 relay (8:10.07). Junior Adrian Stechschulte won the 800 in 1:55.46, senior Avion Miles took first in the long jump with a 21-7½ attempt, and senior Jeremiah Spiceland cleared 12-4 to win the pole vault.

    Fremont Ross senior Kameron Walker was a double winner, claiming the 200 in 22.14 and the 400 in 48.03. Senior teammate Dominic Brown won the discus with a throw of 159-9, while Little Giants ninth-grader Mason Englund cleared 6-4 to win the high jump.

    Bowling Green’s Aidan Novinsky won the 3,200 in 9:36.10.

    DIVISION II-ONTARIO

    ONTARIO, Ohio — Liberty-Benton junior Stefan Kolan won the pole vault in the Division II district at Ontario High School by clearing 16 feet.

    Also, Eagles junior Tyler Grose got a victory in the discus with his attempt of 162-11, helping Liberty-Benton’s boys to a third-place finish with 85¾ points.

    Ontario won the boys competition with 102 points.

    In the girls meet, Liberty-Benton junior Lindsay May won the 400 in 59.20.

    Lexington won the girls competition with 123 points. Liberty-Benton was tied for fourth at 75.

    DIVISION III-MONTPELIER

    MONTPELIER, Ohio — Liberty Center dominated the Division III girls track district at Montpelier, scoring 168 points to second-place Pettisville’s 90½.

    Ottawa Hills was third with 74 points, followed by Montpelier (73) and Delta (62½).

    Edgerton won the boys competition with 106 points, with Liberty Center (95) second. Pettisville (79) was third, followed by Ottawa Hills (68½) and Montpelier 54.

    In girls competition, Liberty Center’s Elle Mohler claimed victory in the 200 in 25.92. Gracie Miller won the 800 in 2:19.88, and Makayla Meller took the 1,600 in 5:13.75. The Tigers’ 3,200 relay won in 9:55.20.

    Also, Liberty Center’s Aletha Fausnight won the high jump by clearing 5-0, and Kiersten Maas won the long jump with a 16-4 attempt.

    Pettisville’s Amanda Grimm won the 300 hurdles in 48.34 and the pole vault at 10-0, while the Blackbirds’ 1,600 relay won in 4:13.34.

    Ottawa Hills’ JoAnna Kelley was the winner in the 3,200 in 11:31.43. Ella Shetterly took the 100 hurdles in 16.57.

    Montpelier’s Bria Friend won the 100 in 12.84. The Locomotives’ 400 relay prevailed in 50.45, as did their 800 relay in 1:44.78.

    Toledo Christian’s Mylah Welborn won the 400 in 1:01.09, while Kaitlyn Ahrendt took the discus at 123-5. Northwood’s Breanna Bolden won the shot put at 36-3.

    In boys competition, Ottawa Hills’ Riley Nixon claimed a distance double, winning the 1,600 in 4:19.00 and the 3,200 in 10:04.98. The Green Bears’ 3,200 relay won in 8:13.30.

    Pettisville’s Samuel Haley won the 400 in 50.18. The Blackbirds’ 1,600 relay won in 3:33.51.

    Liberty Center’s Colton Chambers took the pole vault, clearing 12-9, while Max Walker won the discus at 154-5.

    Montpelier’s Logan Pontious was first in the shot put at 54-1. Fayette’s Ethan Lee took the 800 in 2:01.59. North Central’s Joseph Burt took the high jump at 5-10.

    DIVISION III-AYERSVILLE

    DEFIANCE — Van Buren’s boys won a competitive Division III meet at Ayersville High School.

    The Black Knights edged second-place Defiance Tinora by three points, 122-119. Haviland Wayne Trace (90) was third, followed by Ottoville (69) and Patrick Henry (51).

    Kalida edged second-place Patrick Henry in the girls meet, 116-112. Van Buren (93) was third, followed by Tinora (86) and Wayne Trace (55).

    In boys competition, Van Buren sophomore Carter Finley took first in the 3,200 in 10:20.20.

    The Patrick Henry girls 800 and 1,600 relay teams posted victory in the Division III district at Ayersville High School.

    The 800 relay prevailed in 1:48.01, while the 1,600 relay finished in 4:07.86.

    Van Buren junior Courtney Snyder won the shot put with a 36-9 attempt, while sophomore Easton Wymer took the discus with a 122-8 throw.

    DIVISION III-ADA

    ADA, Ohio — McComb’s Elijah Gibbs swept the throws at the Division III district at Ada High School, winning the discus at 155-5 and the shot put at 52-3.

    His teammate, Braxton Althauser, won the long jump with an attempt of 21-9.

    McComb’s boys finished fifth with 57 points. Columbus Grove won with 118 points. Mount Blanchard Riverdale won the girls competition.
