FBI accepting nominations for Toledo Citizens Academy

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is accepting applications for its Toledo Citizens Academy, a seven-week professional development program for community leaders and decision makers.

The Citizens Academy will be Sept. 12 through Oct. 24 and will consist of seven consecutive Thursday evening sessions from 5:30 to 9 p.m. It also will include a firearms range day on Oct. 16.

The program allows community leaders to learn about the FBI, its mission, and scope of responsibility. Participants receive an inside look at the FBI to better understand the structure and operations and how agents discern federal crimes including criminal, counterintelligence, terrorism, and cyber violations.

The bureau welcomes participants from a variety of backgrounds, including the business, nonprofit, and health-care sectors, and underrepresented communities who are active within the community and may benefit from the program.

There is no cost to attend the program and all materials and meals will be provided.
