LOUISVILLE — The Toledo Mud Hens took a 4-1 lead over the Louisville Bats on Wednesday before an hour-long rain delay led to the game being suspended in the middle of the fourth inning. The contest will resume at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, and Thursday’s originally scheduled game will be played as a seven-inning game 30 minutes after the completion of Wednesday’s game.

Michael Trautwein led off the bottom of the second with a solo home run to give Louisville the initial lead Wednesday, but Toledo’s Buddy Kennedy did the same to tie the game in the top of the third.

Jace Jung led off Toledo’s half of the fourth with a double and later scored on an Akil Baddoo RBI single to give the Mud Hens the lead. Starting pitcher Randy Wynne walked Justice Bigbie with one out, leading the Bats (26-20) to make a call to the bullpen.

Baddoo stole third, and Bligh Madris knocked a two-run single off reliever Alex Young, scoring Baddoo and Bigbie. After two groundouts ended the half-inning, the game entered a rain delay and was eventually called for the night.

Brant Hurter pitched all three innings for the Hens (25-21), allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

Neither team has announced a probable pitcher for the resumption of Wednesday’s game or for Thursday’s original game.
