ADRIAN — A report of shots fired at the Grace Christman Medical Building forced the brief lockdown of the building Wednesday morning.

Adrian police and deputies from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the facility at 10:52 a.m. and learned a man had entered an office on the second floor of the building at 777 Kimole Ln. and fatally shot himself. Authorities did not immediately release the name of the individual, and their investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Police conducted a sweep of the building and found no further threats, officials said. No one else was injured.

Because of the disruption, the ProMedica Physicians Group offices in the building were closed for the day, and appointments were being rescheduled. Treatment of radiation oncology patients continued as scheduled Wednesday.

ProMedica made mental health counselors available on site to support any employees or patients needing assistance.

Anyone with information about the incident, including any witnesses who have not yet made a statement to police, should contact detective Greg Lanford of the Adrian Police Department at 517-264-4808. People can also email their information to APDtips@adrianmi.gov .
