Dennis Hopson is returning to his alma mater.

The City League Hall of Famer has been named the athletic director at Bowsher High School, Toledo Public Schools announced Monday.

The 1983 Bowsher graduate is Ohio State’s all-time leading scorer. He was named the Big Ten player of the year in 1986-87 and went on to play 13 seasons of professional basketball, including five in the NBA. In 1991, Hopson won a championship with the Chicago Bulls.

Most recently, Hopson was the head men’s basketball coach at Lourdes for five seasons, resigning that post last week.

He previously served as the head coach of the ABA’s Toledo Royals and as an assistant at Northwood University, Bowling Green State University, and Bedford High School.
