Lucas County judge on medical leave

A Lucas County judge is on medical leave after falling ill in court last week.

Judge Lori Olender is scheduled to return to work the week of Sept. 2 — Labor Day week — following her leave, Tim Lubbe, the Lucas County Common Pleas Court administrator, said Tuesday.

James Bates, a retired common pleas judge, is covering Judge Olender’s docket days under appointment by the Ohio Supreme Court through next week, Mr. Lubbe said. He said her absence was not known to be affecting any trials.
