Division I high school boys golf sectional tournaments took place Wednesday, with Findlay claiming the team title at Sycamore Springs and Anthony Wayne doing the same at Stone Ridge in Bowling Green.

Anthony Wayne also topped the individual leaderboard at its event as senior Ted Robertson shot a 70 to hold off St. Francis de Sales’ Nicholas Miller for first place by one stroke.

The top five teams in each of the two sectionals, along with the top five individuals from each event not on a qualifying team, advanced to the district tournament.

Payson Dotson shot a 75 to lead Findlay’s victorious team score of 321, finishing second individually by one stroke behind Lexington’s Jackson Durchik. Also scoring for the Trojans were Sam Swisher (80), Jacob Meier (82), and Owen Metz (84).

The other qualifying teams out of Sycamore Springs were Lexington (336), Tiffin Columbian (336), Lima Shawnee (340), and Ashland (343). Fremont Ross (352) finished eighth with senior Robert Rich earning an individual district spot with his 82.

At Stone Ridge, Robertson shot a 35 on each half of the course on his way to the individual title. Also scoring for Anthony Wayne (304) were Ryan Akey (76), Ethan Anstine (79), and Cole Reese (79).

Miller and St. Francis came up just short with a team score of 305. Also advancing to districts were Perrysburg (314), Northview (316), and St. John’s Jesuit (318).

Other local teams included Southview (sixth, 340), Bowling Green (seventh, 353), Maumee (eighth, 354), Clay (10th, 362), and Whitmer (11th, 371).

Southview’s Kyle Freels (81) and Bowling Green’s Ryan Thomas (82) took the first two individual qualifying spots, but there was a four-way tie at 83 for the final three places. Jaren Honsberger of Defiance, Isaac Vens of Southview, and Nathan Cavanagh of Bowling Green managed to advance while Maumee’s Antonio Valadez lost a playoff and was eliminated.

The district tournament is set for Oct. 4 at Shawnee Country Club in Lima, Ohio.
