    Ottawa Hills sweeps TAAC cross country championships

    Ottawa Hills swept the boys and girls titles Wednesday at the Toledo Area Athletic Conference cross country meet conducted at Maumee Valley.

    The Green Bears swept the top seven spots to win the boys meet with 15 points. Joe Mayer-Heckathorn finished first in 17 minutes, 33.1 seconds, with teammates Kaed Egan (17:45.4), Thomas Lathrop (17:48.5), Alex Cooper (17:51.8), Quinton Smith (17:53.8), Miles Wharry (17:54.3), and William Connelly (17:59.9) following.

    Maumee Valley’s Charlie Harris finished eighth among scoring runners (10th overall) in 18:33.8. The Hawks finished second as a team with 55 points, with Toledo Christian third at 78, and Northwood fourth at 94.

    Ottawa Hills defeated Toledo Christian 23-69 for the girls team title. No other team fielded a complete entry.

    The Green Bears’ Mercy Alamina (21:05) and Emily Chen (21:08.1) finished 1-2 individually. Maumee Valley’s Isabella Stueve (21:15.8) was third, followed by Northwood’s Miriam Fowler (21:21.9) and Ottawa Hills’ Audrey Nixon (21:34.4).
