A 19-year-old Springfield Township man who was one of three teenagers accused of a friend’s death during a southwest Toledo shooting late last year pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter Wednesday morning in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Grant Lynn, of the 300 block of Cheswick Drive, also pleaded no contest to felonious assault for his role in shots being fired toward an intended victim who was not hit in the Dec. 20, 2023, incident in the 4200 block of Amsterdam Road.

Lynn faces up to 22 years in prison and a fine of up to $35,000 when sentenced Oct. 30 by Judge Gary Cook.

Erin Kennedy, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, said Lynn was the driver when he and three juveniles drove around the neighborhood looking “for someone they didn’t like” when, after about an hour, they happened across one of that person’s associates. Eric Scott, 16, bailed out of the car and took aim at that person but was then fatally struck by some of the multiple shots fired by others in the vehicle, she said.

Lynn was not accused of shooting young Scott, Ms. Kennedy said, but communications among the group clearly showed his involvement in the plan to locate and kill the other person.

Terrance Robinson and Ashton Neal, both 17, were charged with delinquency for aggravated murder and other offenses in the case. They are scheduled for a probable-cause hearing Nov. 12 in Lucas County Juvenile Court to bind their cases over to common pleas court.

Lynn had been charged with aggravated murder and murder in the case before accepting prosecutors’ plea offer.
