Dustin Lynch starts every morning with a cold plunge. For him it makes him feel alive, awake and ready to take on the day. The first few times he did it, he didn’t like it because it just made him cold. But when he was on Blake Shelton’s tour earlier this year, they were playing in a bunch of cold states, so something about the cold plunge then going into the sauna put him in a good mood. He also committed to it because he noticed all the guys he looks up to in life are very into working out and do cold plunges.

When Lynch needs advice, he will call his producer Zach Crowell because he was the first guy who came into his world and shot it to him straight. He’s been brutally honest with him, which is important, because when he tells him something is good, he can believe him because he was honest with him when things didn’t sound good. This summer was busy for Lynch, and he’s kind of regretting not saying no to a few things. He agreed to play a lot of shows and would also do a lot of adventures Sunday-Wednesday, and he admitted he’s exhausted and wished he had more down time at home. He does feel uneasy in his house though because he does not feel like it’s fully his place. When he gets there, he can only spend about 15 minutes before he starts to want to leave and do something. He’ll come off the road for a few weeks and only be home for a half-hour before he wants to leave and do something because he said he does not like to sit around. He finds that he can relax better when he’s at his farm and he’s able to turn off his brain there. He’s also just started to get into true crime podcasts and is enjoying listening to those.

His current single “Chevrolet" that features Jelly Rol l he was terrified to put out since it uses the same melody as Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away.” He knew people would hear it and think it’s a rip off and not realize they had gotten permission to use that song. But he kept getting pitched a bunch of songs that used samples and that one stood out to him. Jelly Roll happened to be in the studio at the same time and he agreed to do it with him, so the timing worked out perfectly. During the pandemic, Lynch noticed how passionate Jelly Roll’s fans were, so he talked with his producer about how they could stay connected and that’s when he told him that he used to work on the old Jelly Roll beats. The two got back in contact and worked with Lynch for “Chevrolet,” but he never thought it was going to be a single and it never would’ve been a song he pitched to be released. But when his album, Cowboy Killer , came out, he saw how huge of a reaction the song had gotten at shows and it was the obvious choice to make it the single. “Honkey Tonk Heartbreaker” is another song from his latest album that is starting to take off for him at shows!

Lynch is getting back into golfing, and he shared he played a great round on July 4th, but the next round he lost 8 golf balls. He had a hole in one but he’s not sure if he counts it. It was at a celebrity charity event in Texas last year, but he does not think it counts because it wasn’t in rounds.
