    Plainfield Grand List sees small increase from 2022 to 2023: who are the biggest taxpayers?

    After a huge spike last year , the Plainfield Grand List saw a slight increase from 2022 to 2023.

    The 2023 net grand list totaled $1,480,652,558, up from $1,469,533,920 in 2022. This equates to an increase of about 0.76%.

    Personal property saw the largest increase in the grand list. Personal property totaled $141,042,033 in 2023, up from $128,171,279 in 2022. Real estate also saw an increase in valuation. In 2023, real estate was valued at $1,204,864,015, which is up from $1,197,055,486 in 2022.

    There was a decrease in the motor vehicle valuation. In 2022, the valuation was $144,307,155. That dropped to $134,746,510 in 2023.

    The top 10 taxpayers constitute 14.13% of the total valuation of the list. Here are the top 10 taxpayers in Plainfield in 2023, which are the same as in 2022.

    Lowe’s Home Center Inc., 1421 Lowes Way

    • Total Assessment: $55,627,520

    The Lowe's distribution center is the top taxpayer in Plainfield. The warehouse’s square footage is 1.354 million gross.

    Greenleaf Power, 12 Mill Brook Road

    • Total Assessment: $39,793,610

    Greenleaf Power is a national company that produces green energy from biomass fuel. Their plant has operated in Plainfield since 2013, according to the company’s website. The plant’s square footage is 54,304 gross.

    Connecticut Light and Power

    • Total Assessment: $29,079,470

    While it is listed as Connecticut Light and Power, the company does business as Eversource Energy and owns cables, conduits and pipes throughout the town.
