    Last week saw plenty of standout performances in boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball, girls swimming, and cross country across Eastern Connecticut. While there's no shortage of talent, we went and found the best of the best.

    Who is The Bulletin Athlete of the Week?

    Here are the nominees:

    Natalie Bezanson, Norwich Free Academy

    Wildcats senior won the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly in a season-opening girls swimming meet against Waterford.

    Morgan Blanchard, Killingly-Tourtellotte

    Killingly senior scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 girls soccer win against Windham.

    Bella Bruno, Griswold

    Wolverines sophomore setter dished out 33 assists with eight digs to lead the Griswold girls volleyball team past Bacon Academy, 25-15, 25-18, and 25-17.

    Karina Chan, Norwich Free Academy

    Wildcats senior won the individual girls cross-country race at the Stratton Brook Invitational. Chan’s time of 19:35 was 90 seconds faster than the runner-up finish.

    Patrick Croughwell, Norwich Free Academy

    Wildcats senior placed third (17:02) at the Stratton Brook Invitational to help the NFA boys cross-country team with the invite’s Large Division Championship.

    Hunter Giovanni, Ellis Tech

    The Golden Eagles senior scored his second goal with just eight minutes remaining to lift Ellis Tech to a 2-2 tie against Plainfield in boys soccer.
