    Another big name at ESPN is reportedly no longer with the company.

    Zach Lowe , a senior NBA writer for ESPN, has reportedly been laid off by the media giant, according to The Athletic .

    Lowe is originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, and began his career in the state as a reporter at the Stamford Advocate, according to his ESPN bio . He was a senior NBA writer at the company, and considered a leading source for news in the league.

    The news comes a week after Lowe's former colleague, Adrian Wojnarowski, left the company to take a role at St. Bonaventure University.

    Why was Zach Lowe laid off by ESPN?

    Senior NBA writer Zach Lowe was reportedly laid off by ESPN this week, The Athletic reported . The company declined to comment.

    According to The Athletic, Lowe was reportedly making more than $1 million, which was the "biggest factor in ESPN’s decision,” sources who spoke to the outlet said.

    Who is Zach Lowe?

    Zach Lowe is a sportswriter from Greenwich, Connecticut. He is a graduate of Greenwich High School and Dartmouth College, and holds a master's degree in U.S. history and another in journalism.

    Before entering journalism in 2004, Lowe was studying for his Ph.D., according to his ESPN bio .

    He started his journalism career at The Stamford Advocate in Stamford, Connecticut, where he covered crime and courts. He also covered the legal industry for American Lawyer.

    In 2010, Lowe began covering the NBA for Sports Illustrated. He joined ESPN in 2012.

    In addition to writing for ESPN, Lowe often made appearances on NBA Today and NBA Countdown and also ran his own podcast, The Lowe Post .
