State police respond to Norwich man's fatal motorcycle crash: What we know

A Norwich man died in a motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning.

According to Connecticut State Police, Michael Austin, 42, was driving his motorcycle on Bishop Road in Bozrah when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway and lost control of his vehicle.

State Police said Austin crossed over into the southbound lane and struck a rocky embankment. He became separated from his motorcycle and both landed in the woods off the right shoulder of the southbound lane.

As a result of the collision, Austin suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at Backus Hospital, according to State Police.

State Police were able to identify Austin through investigative efforts and confirmed through a fingerprint match at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Austin’s motorcycle was towed from the scene.
