The Middlebury New Filmmakers festival announced May 16 that Susan Sarandon's appearance has already been canceled due to "a schedule change that will make it impossible for her to appear."

Academy Award-winning film star Susan Sarandon will be in Middlebury in June to screen a movie featuring one of her Oscar-nominated roles.

Sarandon will appear Friday, June 14, at the Town Hall Theater to show the 1994 drama “ The Client ,” one of the five films Sarandon has appeared in for which she was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. She won the prize in 1995 for the film “ Dead Man Walking .” She has starred in several movies including “Thelma & Louise,” “Bull Durham” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

Sarandon, who owns a home in Stamford in southern Vermont , will talk from the stage with Vermont filmmaker Jay Craven following the screening of “The Client.” Craven is artistic director of the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, which will mark its 10th anniversary with 125 films screened Aug. 21-25.

Tickets for the June 14 event are $100. Sarandon’s appearance is a fundraiser for the festival.
