Iconic horror-comedy character Betelgeuse is coming back to the big screen, exposing his Vermont roots in the process.

Taking place in the fictional Connecticut village of Winter River, "Beetlejuice" was a horror-comedy film released in 1988 that had Michael Keaton play the demon Betelgeuse (pronounced Beetlejuice) and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, a willful teenage girl that ends up ensnared in the machinations of Keaton's demon.

The film also starred Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin as Barbara Maitland and Adam Maitland, two ghosts who at first employ Betelgeuse to help evict the new tenants of the house they once lived in but eventually aid Ryder's character disrupt the demon's scheme to marry a mortal and wreak havoc on the living world.

And now, 36 years later, the sequel is set to release on Sept. 6, 2024, called " Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ." Ryder and Keaton will be reprising their roles from the original film and new characters are also being brought into fold like Lydia Deetz's daughter, Astrid Deetz, played by Jenna Ortega .

Davis and Baldwin are not reprising their roles for this return to Winter River.

But, did you know that the original film and its sequel had scenes filmed in Vermont?

The original "Beetlejuice" was filmed partially in East Corinth, with the exterior shots in the film done in Vermont and interior shots done in California.

The specific spot where they filmed at is called the Beetlejuice House. In the universe of the films, this is the house that the Maitlands lived in and where the majority of the plot takes place.

In our universe, however, the house does not exist. It was a facade of a building that the film's crew built and placed upon a hill for exterior shots, later torn down after all the filming had ended. The hill is on private property.

The director of both films, Tim Burton, returned to East Corinth for the sequel and recreated the original set from the first movie, effectively resurrecting the ghost house from its remains once more.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that the filming location of the Beetlejuice house can be visited. The location is on private property and cannot be visited.
