    Scores, results, stats from Week 5 of Vermont high school football

    The fifth week kicks off Thursday afternoon with Essex traveling to Colchester for a nondivisional game at 4 p.m. Six more contests are on tap for Friday. The week wraps with seven matchups slated for Saturday afternoon/night. Woodstock has a bye this week. Last week, Windsor forfeited its Week 5 game vs. Lyndon, the Caledonian Record reported .

    THURSDAY, SEPT. 26

    Colchester 13, Essex 10 (2OT)

    C: Colton Lefebvre (141 passing yards, TD). Mason Sheltra (13 carries, 51 yards). Sawyer Cyphers (TD rush). Hunter Sahagun (9-yard TD catch; INT on defense). Jackson O'Dell (INT). Cadel Hoffman (22-yard field goal).

    E: Griffin Randall (33 carries, 163 yards). Thomas Czaplicke (8 catches, 92 yards, TD; INT on defense). Carter Crete (123 passing yards, 10 carries, 27 yards).

    Note: After Hoffman gave Essex a 13-10 lead to start the second overtime, Lefebvre fired a walk-off TD pass to Sahagun on third-and-goal from 9 to lift the Lakers to a stunning victory over D-I Essex. ... The Lakers struck first on Cyphers' QB sneak on the first play of the second quarter. The Hornets responded on the next series, with Crete finding Czaplicki over the middle for a 10-yard score on third down.

    M: Luke Nuceder (TD pass). Cooke Riney (19-yard TD catch). Tassilo Lusch (3-yard TD rush). Alex Sperry (41-yard TD rush). Avery Carl (67 rushing yards; 46-yard TD rush; 5-yard TD rush). Brady Lloyd (85-yard kickoff return for TD; INT on defense). Ben DeBisschop (17-yard TD rush; INT on defense). Tucker Morter (34-yard field goal).

    B: Sean Cozza (13 of 29, 102 yards).

    Note: Middlebury scored touchdowns on all four possessions in the first quarter.

    Burlington/South Burlington 69, BFA-St. Albans 6

    BF: Eli Allbee (1 rush TD, 1 INT on defense). Carson Clark (1 rush TD). Will Hallock (INT). Patrick Connors (1 INT).

    Hartford 35, Mount Anthony 0

    H: Owen Mock (13-yard TD run, 25-yard TD run; 80-yard TD pass). Noah Danieli (80-yard TD catch). Austin St. Peter (4-yard TD run, 59-yard TD run).

    Note: Mock rolled out to his right and hit Danieli near midfield to convert a third-and-14 with less than five minutes remaining in the first half and Danieli trucked a Patriots defender on his way to the end zone for the game’s first points. Hartford maintained the 7-0 lead through the half. After turning the ball over on downs on their first offensive possession of the second half, the Hurricanes next four drives all ended with rushing scores.

    North Country 34, Mount Mansfield 6

    NC: Hayden Boivin (TD rushes of 1, 2, 25 and 25 yards). Gage Beaumont (13 carries, 102 yards).

    Woodstock 54, U-32 14

    SATURDAY, SEPT. 28

    Champlain Valley 55, St. Johnsbury 6

    CV: Orion Yates (8 of 9, 204 yards, 5 TDs; 60-yard TD rush). Jacob Armstrong (4 catches, 82 yards, 3 TDs; INT on defense). Dylan Frere (65-yard TD catch; 60-plus yard kickoff return for TD). Billy Bates (31-yard TD catch). Nolan Walpole (11 carries, 143 yards, TD). Jake Barrett (INT).

    SJ: Cole Lemieux (26-yard TD catch). Carter Bunnell (TD pass).

    Note: On his 18th birthday, Armstrong hauled in TD grabs of 32, 43 and yards. CVU (5-0), which scored on its opening possession for the fifth straight week, built a 42-6 halftime lead. Running time was implemented at the start of the third quarter.

    Rice 40, Mill River 0

    R: Dallas St. Peter (3 TD rushes; TD pass; INT on defense). Stosh Zuk (TD catch). Griffin Seitz (TD rush). Conner Plunkett (INT).

    Rutland 20, Burr and Burton 13

    R: Noah Bruttomesso (167 passing yards, 2 TDs). Grady Gallagher (21-yard TD catch). Hank Potter (40-yard TD catch). Jayden Graham (1-yard TD rush). Wyatt Fuller (INT). Devon Newton (INT).

    BB: Miles Treske (142 passing yards, TD; 4-yard TD rush). Jackson Johnston (12-yard TD catch).

    Note: Rutland rallied on the road from a 13-0 deficit in the first half to remain undefeated (5-0 overall, 4-0 against in-state foes). Graham punched in it from 1 yard out to knot the game at 13 with 2:21 to play. After Fuller's pick, Gallagher caught a screen pass from Bruttomesso and found paydirt for the go-ahead score with 1:03 let. Newton's INT sealed the victory for Rutland.

    BFA-Fairfax/Lamoille 48, Spaulding 14

    F/L: Darius Pelton (15 carries, 255 yards, 3 TDs). Joe Brock (TD catch). Daniel Mlcuch (TD pass). Lei Magnan (2 total TDs including INT return for TD; 6 of 7 on PATs). Jacob Gray (TD rush). Lucas Langlois (INT). Mathias Dolan (INT).

    Note: Fairfax/Lamoille rushed for 440 yards and led 20-7 at the break.

    Mount Abraham 51, Missisquoi 16

    Otter Valley 47, Milton 12

    Poultney 28, Springfield 27 (OT)

    P: Jack Dickerson (13 carries, 229 yards, 4 TDs).

    S: Cam Williams (TD rush). Dmitri Jasinski (22-yard TD rush; TD pass). Braiden Wheeler (55-yard TD catch). Josiah Martinez (56-yard TD rush).

    Note: Dickerson had TD runs of 95, 48 and 65 yards. His 65-yarder tied the game at 21 with 1:05 left in regulation. In OT, Dickerson scored a 3-yard TD. Springfield responded with a score of its own, but Poultney made the stop on the two-point conversion play to seal the victory.
