Live Again Fresno was the recipient of a surprise donation of $80,000 by Philanthropy Inspired by the Needs of our Community (PINC) on Thursday, continuing PINC’s mission of funding service-based nonprofits in the Fresno area.

Founded in 2012, Live Again Fresno aims to improve the lives of youth in the Addams Elementary School neighborhood on McKinley Avenue just west of Highway 99 through educational attainment and health outcomes. Many children assisted by the organization come from family backgrounds that have dealt with a variety of at-home challenges ranging from homelessness and food insecurity to exposure to sex work.

This year’s recipient was selected at the annual PINC Party held on June 22, which featured the selection of Live Again Fresno as the 2024 recipient of PINC’s annual philanthropic donation.

The funds donated to Live Again Fresno were raised that night, although the total amount remained secret to much of the organization, as well as Live Again Fresno founder and Executive Director Richard Burrell until Thursday.

“To see these young women come together to raise this amount in a single night because they were moved into action by our mission is just incredible,” Burrell said. “These funds will go to support providing healthy food, outings, art and music for the children we serve.”

Burrell said that the area surrounding Live Again Fresno’s campus is surrounded by fast food and unhealthy options for the children, many of whom suffer from hunger while at home; his mission is to ensure that children under his care are kept fed healthy, nutritious meals.

“Lastly, art and music are a way to amplify their voices — encouraging storytelling through art as a way to decompress and relieve the stress of their home environment and surroundings,” Burrell added. “It also builds confidence through expressing their individuality.”

This year’s goal far surpassed last year’s donation of $51,000 to local substance abuse rehabilitation nonprofit Parents and Addicts in Need (PAIN), and also worked to continue spreading awareness of the organization’s philanthropy in the community.

“I am so proud of where we started with PINC and where we have come,” said Analise Domingos, PINC founder. “This organization was created over 15 years ago to serve other nonprofits and create new generations of philanthropists by getting them involved in the network in a unique way.”

Domingos said that despite the 2024 new membership period having drawn to a close, the group is always interested in inviting new members. New member applications at PINC generally open in the summer.

Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for beneficiary applications are encouraged to check out PINC’s website for announcements on the upcoming 2025 application period.
