Fresno’s CORE Business Interiors is celebrating a key certification this week.

The 15-year-old interior design studio — with its 50 specialists — has been certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise by WBEC-Pacific, a regional partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

WBENC certification is recognized as the gold standard for certifying women-owned businesses in the U.S. The certification process includes a review to ensure that a business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by women, as well as a site inspection. The review includes structure and strategic business planning.

“We are excited to be a WBENC-certified company. This certification allows us to pave the way for future generations of female leaders and to celebrate the strength and innovation women contribute to the business world. Being WBENC certified not only enhances our position in the marketplace but also reinforces our dedication to empowering the women within the community we serve,” said Andrea Benson, CEO and president of CORE Business Interiors .

CORE Business Interiors specializes in commercial and residential design, furnishings and flooring. The company has contributed to several notable projects in the Central Valley, including Fresno State’s new Resnick Student Union. With a team of over 50 specialists, CORE is a leader in the local design industry.

WBENC certification provides opportunities for women-owned businesses including access to a network of corporate and government contacts, professional development resources, and events designed to foster business growth and innovation, according to a news release.

WBENC has more than 18,000 certified Women’s Business Enterprises, 14 national Regional Partner Organizations, and more than 500 Corporate Members, most of which are Fortune 500.
