    Rep. Frank Sossamon

Rep. Frank Sossamon has expressed support and excitement for the Granville County Schools Book Bus initiative this summer. The Book Bus, a mobile library and snack distributor, will provide free books and snacks to children aged 0 to 18, offering a wide selection of reading material for all age groups.

“I am thrilled to see the launch of the GCS Book Bus, a wonderful initiative that promotes literacy and ensures our children have access to books throughout the summer,” said Sossamon.

The Book Bus will make several stops across Granville County, ensuring that every child can benefit from this initiative. The schedule is as follows:

    Stem: June 19

    • Stem Fire Department on Franklin Street: 10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Butner: June 20 and July 9

    • Butner-Stem Elementary: 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
    • Butner Gazebo Park on Central Avenue: 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Creedmoor: June 25 and July 16

    • South Granville High School: 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
    • First Baptist Church at 108 S. Main St.: 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Southern Granville County: June 26 and July 10

    • Tar River Elementary: 8:45 – 10 a.m.
    • Creedmoor Community Center at 108 E Wilton Ave.: 10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Sossamon commends the efforts of Superintendent Stan Winborne, the school board, and the dedicated individuals who are manning, driving, and cleaning the Book Bus. “Their hard work and dedication make this program possible, and we are grateful for their commitment to our children’s education and well-being,” Sossamon added.

Sossamon challenges every parent and guardian to bring their child to one of these locations at least once this summer.

“This is a unique and fun way to keep our children engaged in reading during the summer months,” he said. “Let’s make this a summer of learning and exploration through books.”
