Dozens of people gathered for the grand re-opening ribbon cutting for Food Lion on East Wilton Avenue Aug. 21.

Shoppers lined up for giveaways and a chance to win $1,000 in groceries from Food Lion.

With a one in fifteen chance of winning the big prize, lucky raffle winners selected a square on the prize board for gift cards that ranged from $150 to the big prize of a $1,000.

It was down to the final two squares on the board, when Robert Blue of Creedmoor selected the grand prize square. Blue was nearly speechless as he received his gift card from Tony Sawyer, store manager of the Wilton Avenue location.

Food Lion in Creedmoor opened its doors in 2005 and has seen a major revamping over the past few months.

Sawyer and the staff at Food Lion invite shoppers form all around the area to stop by and see the new and improved store.
