We saw kids hit their first home runs over the fence from Sophia Tenkley, Mason Reinhart and Will Goetzinger, all showing their home run prowess. The PeeWee's Academy kids worked incredibly hard all summer on the baseball field to play in the Peewees playoffs on August 1-8. The first round saw Orange beat Green (21-20). Then, Orange lost a nail biter to Silver (18-16), as Maverick Felten hit a huge grand slam for Silver! Purple played cinderella in the playoffs with an upset over White (21-20) and some awesome defense by Morgan Tostenson, Bella Steele and Max Merchlewitz. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> The Red team slipped by Blue (19-18) on a big grand slam by Kole Klug. Neon Yellow brought an offensive onslaught, with Isaac Diersen hitting a grand slam and a 3 run bomb. Gage Goetzinger also hit a 3 run home run, beating Teal (26-17). The Final Four Night saw an incredible slate of 4 games in front of an enormous crowd. Number 1 seed Silver played Purple in a back and forth game where leadoff speedster hitter Reagan Knutson went 3-3. The game come down to the final at bat, with little Leah Myhre hitting a game winning single to right field, scoring Maverick Felten for the 18-17 win for Silver, advancing them to the championship. The other semifinal game saw Neon Yellow face off against the undefeated Red team. If you were there, you witnessed one of the greatest PeeWee's game ever. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Never done before, Luke Vesterse hit 3 home runs for Red. The battle went to extra innings, where Yellow upended Red (26-23) behind some awesome Yellow defense and a gigantic grand slam by Emmett Schultz. This was Schultz's first home run over the fence! Yellow moved on to face Silver in the title game. In the third place game Red squeezed by Purple, behind some timely hits by Rookies of the Year Jaxon Klug and Ivy Rose Wiebke. Harlow Burmester, Lettie Solbrack and Levi Ninneman both went 3-3 in this game, pacing the Red team and its offense. *** On Champion's Night, a beautiful summer night with stars that lit up the Eitzen ball field, Silver and Yellow took the field for the right to be called themselves PeeWee's champions. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> The game saw Neon Yellow pull off one of the greatest defensive games fan's have ever seen. Game was back and forth with big hits by Levynn and Bristol Goetzinger, Jayden Snodgrass, Vienna Augedahl and Reed Ronnenbergfor for Yellow. Silver played incredible defense as well, quieting the Yellow team's offense with big plays by Avery Lietzau, Karver Meiners and Everett Longmire. In this game on defense for Silver William Mahoney took one to the nose and, with blood flowing, refused to come out of the game. It was with blood his face he made a play to get an out at home. Then, he came up in the final inning, hitting a single to left field. This is the gritty attitude we coaches try to teach at the Academy and William Mahoney showed this with a legendary performance! With Silver down 3 in the bottom of the last inning, Yellow pulled off an incredible defensive inning. Silver, down 3 with 3 hitters left and 2 kids on second and third, Karver Meiners hits a huge 2 run ground rule double over the fence to get the score within 1. With Reagan Knutson at the plate, the final at bat, a hard line drive was hit to second. However, Gage Goetzinger made an awesome backhand play, throwing to Emmett Schultz at first for the final out. Yellow won the championship (22-21)! <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Jarrett Snodgrass was named MVP of the season and tourney for Silver. Briggs Middendorf was MVP of the season and tourney for the second place Silver team. Home run champions for the season, who brought home big home run trophies, were Isaac Diersen and Luke Vesterse with 8 home runs on the season.
