Legal community welcomes new lawyer

A veritable cadre of local members of the bar welcomed Brogan L. Bowman to the profession at a swearing-in ceremony held on May 8 in the Circuit Court Room of the Carroll County Governmental Complex. Honorable Judge Brett Geisler presided over the ceremony.

Geisler told a room with more than 20 people present when it comes to the practice of law, “It’s an exciting time. My door will always be open for anything you need. We welcome you!”

He told them he remembered his own swearing-in ceremony from 35 years ago with Honorable Judge Duane Mink. Bowman, who is a Carroll native, will work in the firm of The Jackson Law Firm PLLC in Hillsville. Geisler said the legal profession is stressful but has incredible rewards. Attorney Tom Jackson said the attendance of so many local colleagues was classy and told the group, which also included friends and family, Bowman started working in his legal firm right around the time he decided to pursue a career in law.

Jackson said this gave Bowman a better foundation than many aspiring lawyers because it gave him a better understanding of the day-to-day workings of a legal office. Bowman later said he had worked winters and summers with the practice since he was seventeen.
