    Cavs sending three to state track meet

    Davis Reitzel qualified for the upcoming Class 3 Track and Field Championships on Thursday with his performance in the 300 meter hurdles at the Region 3D Championships in Abingdon.

    A Carroll County senior, Reitzel placed third in the region in 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42 seconds. He joins Carroll’s Corrie Delp and Brayden Smoot, who automatically qualified for state earlier in the year in the long jump and 100 meter dash, respectively. Alyssa Ervin was also an automatic qualifier in the state meet for the high jump, but she will not attend state due to an injury.

    Also of note from the regional championships, Carroll’s Elias Sample, Sean Staples, Brayden Smoot and Noah Manning teamed to break a school record in the boys 4x100 relay with a time of 45.24 seconds. The Class 3 State Meet is set for May 31-June 1 at Liberty University in Lynchburg.

    Also placing for the Cavaliers in the Region 3D Championships were:

    Girls 4 x 100 relay — 8th, 53.87 (Savannah Swecker, Alexis Montgomery, Bristol Delp, Corrie Delp)

    Boys 400

    Brayden Smoot — 5th, 51.92

    Girls 300 hurdles

    Alexis Montgomery — 8th, 54.02

    Davis Reitzel — 8th, 122‘9“

    Boys Shotput

    Davis Reitzel — 6th, 42’7.5”

    Boys Long Jump

    Nathanael Dalton — 7th, 20 feet, 2 1/2 inches

    Girls Long Jump

    Corrie Delp — 6th, 15’6”

    Boys Triple Jump

    Nathanael Dalton — 8th, 40-feet 7.5-inches

    Boys, 4 x 4 relay relay — 7th, 3:27.21 (Elias Sample, Davis Reitzel, Sean Staples,, Brayden Smoot)
