WCC to host Bluegrass, Old-Time Jamboree on Sept. 21
Wytheville Community College (WCC) is pleased to present the Bluegrass and Old-Time Jamboree on September 21, 2024 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. This month the Jamboree will feature bands Bluegrass Kinsmen and Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder. Bluegrass Kinsmen is a bluegrass band with performances spanning over 50 years from Rosedale, Virginia. LAUREL FORK— Tri-Area Community Health (TACH) has partnered with UVA Health to enhance breast cancer screening and follow-up services across Southwest Virginia, bringing essential resources to underserved communities. Carroll moves forward with pool construction
The Carroll County Board of Supervisors voted 5-1 on Sept. 9 to appropriate $3.5 million for the construction of a new swimming pool. Carroll supervisors originally voted to appropriate an amount not to exceed $3.5 million during its Aug. 5 meeting. Berrier's compassion for education honored
The Carroll County School Board honored the late Phillip Berrier’s legacy of compassion and passion for the education of Carroll County students during its September 10 regular meeting with members of Berrier’s family, former co-workers and board members present. New gateway sign welcomes visitors to Carroll
The Town of Hillsville, Carroll County, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and Carroll County Public Schools, are excited to announce the completion of a new gateway sign which welcomes visitors to Hillsville and Carroll County while showcasing Cavalier Pride. This project was made possible by a partnership that began in 2022 utilizing ARPA Tourism Funding. The Carroll County Board of Education during its September 10 meeting, formally presented Gladesboro Elementary Fourth and Fifth Grade Reading and Studies Teacher Kimberly Hundley with a trophy honoring her selection as Teacher of the Year. A delegation of central office staffers including CCPS Chairman Brian Spencer and Superintendent Dr. Mark Burnette on September 6 announced Hundley had earned the honor.
BBQ Supper benefit planned for Dugspur Community Center
A BBQ Supper to benefit the Dugspur Community Center will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p. m. on Saturday, September 21. The supper will be dine in or take-out and will be held at the center located at 118 Double Cabin Road in Dugspur. The menu includes pulled pork barbecue and bun, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, dessert and drink. The charge for adults is $12 with children age 6-12 years meals available for $6.
