(The Center Square) – Former President Donald Trump laid out his economic policies and vision for the country at a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday, promising to keep intact the Affordable Care Act, Social Security and Medicare.

“A lot of people are very devastated by what’s happened with inflation,” Trump said in Asheville. “I gave Harris and Biden an economic miracle and they quickly turned it into an economic nightmare.”

In front of a crowd of thousands that began forming a day earlier, Trump maintained a positive attitude about the November election, which is in 83 days.

“We are going to defeat Kamala Harris, we are going to win back the White House in a historic landslide, and we are going to take back our country,” Trump said.

He added that his political movement is the “biggest political movement in the history of our country.”

Despite Asheville being one of the more liberal cities in North Carolina, thousands were left waiting outside in overflow.

Trump called out Vice President Kamala Harris for being in office for the last three and half years, but still claiming she will make a real difference if voted president.

“Kamala Harris won’t end the economic crisis, she will only make it worse. Why hasn’t she done it?” he said. “You don’t have to imagine what a Harris presidency would look like. You are living through that misery right now, except it will only get worse.”

Trump discussed his plans for “No Tax on Tips” and “No Tax on Social Security,” calling out Harris – who vists the state on Friday – for announcing a similar no tax on tip plan after Trump.

“To help seniors on fixed incomes who are suffering the ravages of inflation, there will be no tax on Social Security,” Trump said. “With this vote, I will end this injustice.”

Lower health care costs are also in his economic agenda.

Trump promised that, if he is reelected, he will return the country to an “economic boom.”

“From the day I take the oath of office, we will rapidly drive prices down and make America affordable again,” Trump said. “Harris price hikes have cost the typical household $28,000.”

Trump also defended the need for American energy independence. He plans to reduce energy costs by 50%.

“We want energy dominance almost immediately,” he said.

He pointed to higher mortgage payments, decreasing incomes, and price hikes as causing major stress on American families.

“Is anything less expensive than under Kamala Harris and Crooked Joe?” Trump queried the crowd.

Trump warned of what might happen if Harris is elected.

“With four more years of Harris, your finances will never recover. Our country will never recover,” he said. “Vote Trump and your incomes will soar, your savings will grow, young people will be able to afford a home, and we will bring back the American dream bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.”

Trump promised that his administration will make it a priority to lower inflation.

“On my first day back in the Oval Office, I will sign an executive order directing every Cabinet secretary and agency head to use every tool and authority at their disposal to defeat inflation and bring consumer prices rapidly down,” Trump said. “I will instruct my Cabinet that I expect results within the first 100 days, or much sooner.”

He also said that he would end lower taxes and end “the Biden/Harris electric vehicle mandate.”

“There’s a great place for electric but . . . you should be able to go out and buy what you want,” Trump said.

Trump said Americans will see better times if he is elected.

"Everyone will prosper, every family will thrive, and every day will be filled with opportunity, hope, and joy," Trump said. "On Nov. 5, we will save our economy, we will rescue our middle class, we will put America first, and we will make America great again."
