(The Center Square) – Former President Donald Trump laid out his plans to rebuild the military and restore peace throughout the world at a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday afternoon.

“It’s time to create the arsenal of the 21st Century,” Trump said in the Piedmont community of Asheboro, a week after visiting Asheville in the mountains. “We need a very dramatic increase in development and, in so doing, we will create countless American jobs.”

Trump also addressed a report that was released earlier in the day from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showing that America added 818,000 fewer jobs than previously reported, the largest downgrade in 15 years.

“The Harris-Biden administration has been caught fraudulently manipulating job statistics to hide the true extent of the economic ruin that they’ve inflicted on America,” Trump said. “With a Trump victory, we’ll once again have the greatest economy in history.”

Trump remained optimistic about his chances in the election.

“Seventy-six days from now, we’re going to win this state and we’re going to win the White House,” he said.

Trump said at the beginning of the speech that he has finally decided on his nickname for Vice President Kamala Harris: “Comrade Kamala.”

“Thanks to Comrade Kamala and Joe Biden, morale in our military is now so low that almost every single branch is suffering a major recruitment and retention crisis,” Trump said. “Upon taking office, I will begin the largest peacetime recruitment drive in the history of the armed forces. We have to fill our armed forces with great people ... the sense of spirit, pride, and prestige will soon come roaring back.”

This outdoor rally was the first that Trump has held since the assassination attempt in July. During the speech, Trump spoke from behind bulletproof screens, but mid-speech he left the protection of the screens to speak with a woman in the crowd who required medical care.

In his speech, Trump emphasized the importance of strong military leaders and blasted the Biden administration for the “massive scandal” the withdrawal from Afghanistan was in 2021, which left 13 Americans dead. The three-year anniversary is Monday.

“I will ask for the resignations of every single senior military official who touched the Afghanistan disaster,” he said. “I want their resignations immediately ... everybody involved with that disaster.”

Trump said this will reinforce America’s strength to the world.

“This house cleaning will be a signal to the entire world,” he said. “Countries all over the world lost respect for us because of Afghanistan. We demand success and we demand victory.”

Trump promised that as soon as he takes office he will also reform many of Biden’s policy changes in the military.

“On Day 1, I will get critical race theory and transgender insanity the hell out of our U.S. armed forces," he said. "Our warriors should be focused on defeating America’s enemies, not figuring out their genders. If you want to have a sex change or a social justice seminar, then you can do it somewhere else, but you’re not going to do it in the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, Space Forces, or the United States Marines."

Trump also pushed back against Biden’s policies that forced some soldiers out of the military, saying he will try to rehire every “patriot” who was fired for refusing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

“They will get their back pay and an apology,” he said.

Trump said that the Republican Party is now the party of “common sense.”

“We are going to straighten out our country through common sense,” he said. “We’re going to make it bigger, better, stronger than ever before.”

He also promised to rebuild the military and even build an Iron Dome to protect America from airstrikes.

“After years of horrific depletion, with the Comrade sending our missiles, airplanes, and ammunition to other countries, I will make a historic investment in rebuilding the U.S. armed forces,” Trump said.

Trump called out Harris for her policies even “more radical” than Biden.

“We will quickly restore peace and stability in our country, and all over the world,” Trump said. “I’m going to get things in line and we’re going to prevent World War III . . . By contrast, if Comrade Kamala wins this November, World War III is virtually guaranteed to happen.”

If he wins, Trump said that he will achieve world peace by rebuilding a strong America.

“We are going to fight like hell to win the election. They are going to cheat like hell to win the election, because they have no bounds,” Trump said. “We are going to have peace through strength, all over the world.”
