A group of 60 Cherry Hill students, community members and staff went to Trenton on March 20 to attend a state Assembly public hearing and advocate for fair funding, after the school district got news last month that it would face a $6.9-million decrease in state aid between the current school year and the next.
Lighthouses of New Jersey
The Cherry Hill Historical Commission will host an in-person presentation on lighthouses of New Jersey at the Chery Hill library on Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. The speakers will be volunteers Marilyn Dunning and Alan Jacobson of the New Jersey Lighthouse Society, who both have years of sailing experience. The talk will also include the history of state lighthouses, their structure and characteristics, as well as the topics of their keepers, their purpose and how weather affects them.

Township fireworks will return after 10-year hiatus
When Mayor David Fleisher came into office in January, he pledged to bring the community together. “I’m pleased to announce fireworks will be returning to Cherry Hill after a 10-plus-year hiatus,” the mayor announced at the township council meeting on March 11. A ‘shimmering’ prom night
The county will present its first Night to Shimmer: Under the Sea Prom next month at Camden’s Adventure Aquarium for those with disabilities. “This isn’t for kids in high school, this is for people who are 15 or older, so we could get somebody there who’s in their 50s experiencing prom for the first time,” said Karen Weidner, director of programming for the group Individuals with disABILITIES.
