Isaiah 66:14–24 [14]And when you see this, your bones will grow like herbs and your heart will rejoice; the LORD's hand will be seen toward his servants and his wrath toward his foes. [15]For, lo, the LORD will appear like a whirlwind, his chariots blazing with fire, his anger turned to fury, and his rebuke turned to flames. [16]For the LORD will plead with all flesh by fire and his sword, and the LORD's slain will be numerous. [17]The LORD declares that everyone who sanctifies and purifies themselves in the gardens behind a single tree in the middle and consumes pig meat along with the abomination and the mouse will perish together.   [18] For I am aware of their deeds and thoughts; I will eventually gather all peoples and languages, and they will come to witness my majesty. [19] I'll also establish a sign among them and send those who manage to get away from them to the nations, to Lud, Tarshish, and Pul; those who draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan; to far isles where they haven't heard of or seen my glory; and they will tell the Gentiles of my splendor. [20] And they will transport all of your brothers and sisters from all across the world to my holy place on horses, chariots, litters, mules, and fast animals as a tribute to the LORD. Black codes were restrictive laws designed to limit the freedom of African Americans and ensure their availability as a cheap labor force after slavery was abolished during the Civil War. Under black codes, many states required Black people to sign yearly labor contracts; if they refused, they risked being arrested, fined and forced into unpaid labor. Outrage over black codes helped undermine support for President Andrew Johnson and the Republican Party. Matthew 22:18–22 [18] However, Jesus saw their depravity and questioned, "Why do you tempt me, you hypocrites?" [19] Present the tribute money to me. And they presented him with a penny. [20] And he asked them, Whose image and superscription are they? [21] They address him as Caesar. Then he says to them, "Give therefore to Caesar that which is Caesar's, and give to God that which is God's." [22] They amazed at these remarks, turned away from him, and continued on their trip.Matthew 22:18–22[18] When Jesus realized how wicked they were, he replied, "Why tempt me, ye hypocrites?"[19] Present the tribute money to me. And they presented him with a penny.[20] "Whose is this image and superscription?" he asked them. blacks and Mexicans should not vote.
