Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs will visit the Vernetta Smith Chehalis Timberland Regional Library for an event focused on the fantasy tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.

The event will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

“Join us for an afternoon celebration of tabletop role-playing games,” the library stated in a news release. “Attendees will have the opportunity to watch a live Dungeons & Dragons game with a Wizards of the Coast Dungeon Master, Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs and members of the Lewis County Juvenile Justice Center Youth Mentorship Program.”

Attendees of the free event can paint a custom Dungeons & Dragons miniature to take home and socialize with other enthusiasts of the game.

The program was created in partnership with Washington State Library and Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro.

“Communities benefit greatly from the chance to engage in world-building, character creation, and the therapeutic effects of tabletop gaming,” Hobbs stated in a news release earlier this year.

The Renton-based company donated 75 Dungeons & Dragons kits to the Washington State Library system earlier this year and are distributing them around the state. Every library district is expected to get at least one kit.

The library is located at 400 N. Market Blvd., Chehalis.
