Chilton County car enthusiasts withstood the heat on July 13 for the second annual Chilton Toyz Car Show at Baugh Ford in Clanton. The annual summer event organized by Raymond Holloway and Eli Good brought out dozens of sleek and vibrant cars and motorcycles with a good mixture of makes, models and years for attendees to take in.

The heat took a toll on the attendance at the event a bit this year, but a change of date could bring back the attendance quickly, which is the plan for Holloway and Good.

“We were happy for the ones that did come out, and they endured the heat just to come out to support,” Holloway said. “There is going to be some trial and error with only our second one, but we are going to make some adjustments and come back stronger with it next year.”

Eleven awards were presented to stand out cars in categories like Best Motor, Best Interior, Best of Show, People’s Choice and more. Clanton Mayor Jeff Mims was in attendance and looked at the cars featured in the show, and he selected Warren Garris’ ride as his Mayor’s Choice Award winner. Garris’ car also won the Best of Show Award.

Holloway and Good enjoy being able to provide events for car enthusiasts in Chilton County to bring their cars out and show them off. Since they held their first car show last year, the two have noticed more car shows and meets popping up in the area as well, hoping their events have inspired others to make their own.

“I am starting to see a lot more cars come out, and it puts a smile on my face,” Good said. “We are just trying to get even more people to come out.”

Holloway and Good are still planning the Chilton Toyz Car Meet that is held in the winter months, and more details and a date for the event will be announced in the coming months.
