Rivalry victory: Jemison beats heat and Thorsby in opener
Jemison High School defended home field in the 2023 installment of the north Chilton clash prevailing 27-26 over Thorsby High School in the team’s season opener on Aug. 25. On a hot and humid late summer night in Jemison, the Panthers captured their first win over an in-county opponent since 2020 (35-8 over Thorsby), and arguably head coach John Therrell’s biggest win since his tenure began in 2021.

Monumental opening for Jennings, tech business
Monumental Technologies in Thorsby opened its doors on Aug. 15 and celebrated with a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. Bowen and Ballew building up Thorsby
Last year, Todd Bowen and Shawn Ballew decided they wanted to take on a new feat and saw an opportunity in Thorsby. Old, dilapidated buildings on Montgomery Avenue needed to be spruced up and updated to bring in new businesses to the city. The duo took on the task and is keeping the historic look and feel to the buildings as they go.
