22-year-old suspect charged after fatal shooting on Belvedere Drive

Jackson police announced Wednesday the arrest of a man in connection to a Tuesday fatal shooting in the 2600 block of Belvedere Drive.

JPD arrested 22-year-old Jefferson Alverez in connection to this case. Alverez faces a capital murder charge.

Police said the unidentified victim was shot at the location and pronounced dead at a local hospital.

"The victim’s identity is being withheld, pending his next of kin notification," police said.

According to the Clarion Ledger's records, this is the third homicide the Jackson Police Department is investigating so far in August 2024 .
