Fellow Wideout Says Freshmen WRs Will Create 'Problems' for Opposing Defenses

The rave reviews continue to roll in for Clemson’s two freshmen receivers.

Fellow wideout Tyler Brown likes what he has seen early on in fall camp from both Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore.

“Basically the main thing with young guys when they come in is the mindset,” Brown said after Wednesday’s practice at Jervey Meadows. “The young guys that came in this year, I feel like they’ve mentally got it. They motivate me, I would say.”

Brown has already seen enough to believe both former 5-star talents are going to have an impact on the Clemson offense in 2024.

“Freak athletes physically,” Brown said. “In my eyes, they are going to be problems. No questions.”

After leading the team with 52 catches and 531 receiving yards, and earning freshman All-American honors a season ago, Brown is more than qualified to know what it takes to succeed as a freshman.

“Learn. Don’t take that playbook lightly,” Brown said. “That’s how you get on the field. Know what you’re doing.”

Wesco was an early enrollee and went through the spring with the Tigers, while Moore was a summer enrollee and just arrived on campus back in May.

On the surface, it would appear that Wesco has a leg up, since he has been on campus longer. However, in each of the past two seasons, the Tigers have had a summer enrollee make an immediate impact as a receiver.

Antonio Williams did it in 2022, with Brown doing it a season ago. Although, for Brown, he absolutely sees both of the freshmen making their marks during the upcoming season.

“They are going to touch that field for sure,” Brown said. “Them boys right there, they came in, I would say, more mentally ready than I was. They are learning things faster. They are just going with the groove and I like that about them.”
