Martavis Bryant has been eyeing an NFL comeback, and now the former Clemson wide receiver is getting another shot in the league.

Bryant has signed with the Washington Commanders, the team announced on Tuesday.

Bryant worked out for Washington again on Tuesday after also working out for them back in May.

Bryant, who last saw NFL game action in 2018, was released by the Dallas Cowboys this spring. Prior to cutting him loose, Dallas re-signed Bryant to a futures deal earlier this year. Before that, he was released by the Cowboys in early January after they signed him to their practice squad this past November, shortly after he worked out for the team once the NFL reinstated him from suspension.

Bryant stuck with the Cowboys’ practice squad for a couple of months but was never elevated to the active roster for game action. The 6-foot-4, 211-pounder most recently played in an NFL game in 2018 with the then-Oakland Raiders. He was suspended indefinitely by the league that season after multiple violations of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Originally a fourth-round pick (118th overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bryant tallied 145 catches for 2,183 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns while playing for the Steelers and the Raiders from 2014-18.

Although it’s been a while since he’s played in an NFL game, Bryant said recently he feels he has plenty of football left in him.

“I got a lot of football left,” Bryant said, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk . “Still love the game, never stopped loving the game. I had to take some time to reflect on myself and get my situation straight off the field. I did that. I put in a lot of work. There’s still so much left I can do. I know I can contribute to somebody that wants to give me the opportunity.”

Along with the NFL, Bryant has spent time in the CFL, XFL and Fan Controlled Football league.

The Calhoun Falls, S.C. native played at Clemson from 2011-13, recording 61 receptions for 1,354 yards and 13 touchdowns over 37 games (13 starts) in his career.
