Clemson WR ‘Playing with a Lot of Confidence’ after Strong ‘23 Finish

Adam Randall had a strong finish to the 2023 season, and according to Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, Randall carried that momentum from the end of last year over into fall camp this year.

Swinney praised the talented wideout recently, saying Randall had a “great camp” ahead of his upcoming junior campaign.

“Huge touchdown today in two-minute drive,” Swinney said last Thursday following the Tigers’ final scrimmage of camp. “He’s just been steady, consistent, playing with a lot of confidence. … And that’s really how he finished the year. That’s how he finished the season.”

A former national top-125 prospect from Myrtle Beach, Randall has registered 32 catches for 378 yards over his first two years at Clemson.

Injuries have impacted Randall, leading to some inconsistency in his performances on the field, though he is now fully healthy with an opportunity to make a much bigger impact in 2024.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder posted 22 receptions for 250 yards across 13 games (five starts) in 2023, with arguably his best performance in a Clemson uniform to date coming in the comeback win over Kentucky in the Gator Bowl when Randall gained 46 yards on a career-high five receptions.

That came a couple of games after he produced a career-high and team-high 57 receiving yards on two catches in the Tigers’ top-25 victory over North Carolina at Death Valley.

“Those last three or four games, he looked like you expect him to look, and he’s carried that over and he’s had a really good fall camp,” Swinney said.

If the 14th-ranked Tigers are to have the type of success they hope to experience during the upcoming season, they’ll undoubtedly need more production from Randall and his fellow wide receivers.

It’s a receiving corps that has been hampered by plenty of injuries over the past couple of seasons, but seems to be mostly healthy entering 2024, and it’s a group that Swinney is optimistic about as the Aug. 31 season opener against No. 1 Georgia in Atlanta approaches.

“It’s a good group, man,” Swinney said. “Cole Turner has been awesome. He’s made some huge plays. Tyler (Brown), Antonio (Williams)… That whole group has been really good. (Bryant) Wesco, “Tink” (Misun Kelley) – Tink made a couple big plays today – Noble (Johnson) made a big play today, I’ve talked about T.J. (Moore). So, it’s a good group.”
