CLEMSON – The media had an opportunity to speak with Clemson tight end Jake Briningstool following Monday’s practice. The 14 th -ranked Tigers are finishing up fall camp and turning the page to get ready for their Aug. 31 matchup against No. 1 Georgia.

–Briningstool touched on how his work ethic has changed over the course of the past couple of seasons. “I am focused on getting my body right to play 16 or 17 games this season. I am trying to be the best version of myself… my body is healthy, and I feel good right now. The biggest thing for me was to lock in on mental reps.”

–On being a newfound leader in this Clemson locker room Briningstool had this to say, “I think I have always felt like I was a leader, but now it is just on a much larger scale. I know people are watching me and how I do things, so that helps me stay more focused, taking that next step as a leader being more vocal and having that confidence in myself.”

–Briningstool had a lot to say about the growth of the young tight ends heading into the 2024 campaign. “I think physically every single one of them can go out there and do it, I think the biggest part of being a tight end is a lot like playing quarterback in terms form the mental side, just being able to see everything that is in the passing game, all the run calls, how the defense is going to play the run. So, really just mentally I would say is the biggest thing for them in terms of maturity.”

–When asked about the Tigers being an underdog heading into the matchup with Georgia Briningstool had this to say, “no we are not the underdog we are just laying low right now we will be ready.”
