CLEMSON – As Clemson’s fall camp ends, the 14 th -ranked Tigers turn their heads toward preparing for No. 1 Georgia. Tight end Josh Sapp spoke with the media after practice on Monday and here are a few of the words he had to say.

–The redshirt sophomore has noticed some maturity within this team throughout fall camp and said, “I feel like we are more together as one this year. Everybody’s been on the same page just communicating and building each other up.”

–Within the tight end room, Sapp said there has been “a lot of competition, we do a good job of holding each other accountable too and making sure we all know what to do.” He went on to say that senior Jake Brinningstool’s leadership and energy has continued to help him stay ready for when his number is called.

–At the start of fall camp, Sapp’s focus was “being as strong in my run game as I am in my pass game.” He said, along with getting stronger and more explosive, this is his biggest improvement since his freshman year.

–Freshman Christian Bentancur has been a standout according to Sapp. He said, “he’s athletic, explosive, and strong so he is going to be a solid player.” Sapp mentioned Bentancur is soaking up all the information he can and is always making sure he knows everything.

–Sapp was asked if there is anything that excites him about playing Georgia to start the season. He said, “yeah, they’re number one. They are the number one team so that’s a good start for us to knock them off the map.” He added, “I definitely know we got a chip on our shoulders just coming in being that underdog and that’s what we like here at Clemson, being the underdog.”
