Entering the upcoming campaign, the ultimate goal for these key Clemson wide receivers is crystal clear.

Antonio Williams and Tyler Brown aren’t focused on individual accolades or statistics heading into the 2024 season.

Instead, they’re zeroed in on a team goal and have their sights set on helping the Tigers get back to the college football mountaintop.

“I’m trying to bring that natty back, man. It’s not really an individual goal, but as long as we’re winning, I’m happy with that,” Williams said in an interview with ACC Network’s Eddie Royal on the network’s Road Trip show stop in Clemson this week.

Brown echoed Williams’ sentiment for this year’s Clemson team, which hopes to return to the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2020 and ultimately capture the program’s first national championship since 2018.

“We’re trying to get that ring,” Brown said. “We ain’t worried about stats. We’re trying to go get it for the team.”

Williams, a redshirt sophomore, and Brown, a true sophomore, are certainly important pieces for Clemson’s receiving corps and the preseason 14 th -ranked Tigers team, in general.

A local product of Greenville (S.C.) High School, Brown made an instant impact for the Tigers in 2023 and earned freshman All-American status from ESPN. He led Clemson in receptions (52) and receiving yards (531) and had four touchdown receptions.

Williams, Clemson’s leading receiver as a true freshman in 2022, was limited by various injuries to only four games in the regular season last year, triggering a mid-career redshirt. The Irmo, S.C., native posted 22 receptions for 224 yards with two touchdowns in 2023 afer earning freshman All-American recognition in 2022, when he caught 56 passes for 604 yards with four touchdowns.

Both Williams and Brown gave credit to Clemson receivers coach Tyler Grisham for helping groom them for success early in their college careers, while Brown showed some love to Williams as well.

“I think it was just my coach, Coach Grisham. He came in and made sure I was prepared the first game on the field – knowing the plays and then just being confident in my game. So, yeah, I would give the credit to Coach Grisham,” Williams said.

“For me, I would definitely say Coach Grish as well,” Brown added. “But just coming in behind this guy (Williams) right here, man – this cat was hurt last year, he just did his best to lead me and guide me and take me under his wing. So, I really appreciate him for that.”

Brown, Williams and the Tigers begin the 2024 season – what they hope will be the start of a special year – when Clemson takes on No. 1 Georgia in the Aflac Kickoff Game in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31 (12 p.m., ABC).
