NFL Tiger Earns Historic Payday

This Clemson pro is set to get a huge payday.

The Atlanta Falcons have locked up former Tiger star cornerback A.J. Terrell, agreeing on a massive four-year, $81 million contract extension.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the deal includes $65.8 million effectively fully guaranteed — making Terrell the second-highest paid cornerback in NFL history, according to Rapoport, who noted that it’s the biggest guarantee ever for a cornerback on a four-year deal.

Terrell is due to make $12.344 million this season on the fifth and final year of his rookie deal. The 25-year-old is now under contract with the Falcons through the 2028 season.

A first-round pick (16th overall) of the Falcons in 2020, Terrell tallied 45 tackles (four for loss) and 11 pass breakups in 17 games last season.

Although he hasn’t notched an interception since his 2021 All-Pro season (when he picked off three passes), the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder has established himself as a top-tier cover corner and indispensable member of Atlanta’s secondary. He has recorded four interceptions, as well as more than 40 pass breakups, in his four-year NFL career so far.
