Despite Multiple Teams Still Pursuing Him, Clemson Commit 'Fully Locked In' With Tigers - 4-star Clemson commit Amare Adams recaps rivalry win , talks strength of commitment to Clemson

FLORENCE- Amare Adams is extremely easy to spot on a high school football field.

Standing 6-foot-6 and already weighing close to 300-pounds, the South Florence senior is a disruptive force along the Bruins defensive line.

In a 23-16 season-opening win over crosstown rival West Florence, Adams shined, wreaking havoc for four quarters, despite the Knights continuously running away from him, on top of sending double and triple-teams at him all night long.

Adams unofficially finished the night with four tackles and two quarterback pressures. He also came up with a key sack on West’s final drive and later on the same drive batted down a pass on a 4th and 13 play with the Knights deep in Bruins territory and looking to tie it up.

“It feels good,” Adams told The Clemson Insider. “We came out a little shaky but great teams always find a way to win and we got to it in the second half and played very hard.”

South Florence has appeared in the 4A state title game in each of the past two seasons, winning its first and only state championship in 2022. The Bruins have now won 30 of their past 31 games and are once again one of the favorites to make it back in 2024, coming into the season ranked No. 2 behind defending champions Westside.

“Our ceiling is very high,” Adams said. “Because we coming off going to the state championship in back-to-back years. So our ceiling is very high and with the team we’ve got now, we can do it.”

Adams has been committed to Clemson since December of last year. While his relationship with defensive tackles coach Nick Eason was strong before the announcement, it has only strengthened in the months since.

“The relationship is outstanding,” Adams added. “I love coach Eason. We talk every day, just joke around. He sends me videos of him working and I just tell him how I’m doing. We have a great relationship right now.”

As is typical in the world of recruiting, just because Adams is committed that doesn’t mean other programs have stopped pursuing him. And seeing as he is a Top 40 talent and one of the five-best defensive linemen in the class, per 247Sports, that means schools will keep up with the full-court press.

However, Adams is adamant that he is fully on board and that he will indeed sign with the Tigers come December.

“A couple of teams keep coming after me,” Adams said. “Florida State is still coming after me, South Carolina is still coming after me and there is a couple more teams. But I am fully locked in with the Tigers. The relationships I am building with the players and the team. I just love the campus. I just love it there in Clemson.”
