Which team is Kirk Herbstreit picking to win the Atlantic Coast Conference this season?

Herbstreit, ESPN’s lead college football analyst, gave his ACC Champion pick during ESPN’s College GameDay show Saturday morning.

Herbstreit is going with Clemson to win the conference in 2024 — and receive a first-round bye in the 12-team College Football Playoff (as one of the four highest-ranked conference champions).

“The depth of this conference this year is going to be much better than it has been,” Herbstreit said. “You just heard the guys go through the list of teams.  Some of the obvious ones are Clemson, Florida State and Miami. You are right about Virginia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, Georgia Tech. This is a different league this year.

“With that being said, I think people are sleeping on Clemson, making fun of Dabo is exactly what he wants. They are playing right into Clemson.  Clemson is going to win the ACC. They are going to get a bye in that playoff.”

Clemson has won eight ACC Championships since 2011 under Dabo Swinney, who has led the Tigers to conference titles in seven of the last nine years, including six straight from 2015-20.

The Tigers won their most recent ACC title in 2022, when they defeated North Carolina, 39-10.
