Howard, Saban & McAfee Give Their ACC Champion Picks

During ESPN’s College GameDay show Saturday morning, the GameDay crew gave their ACC Champion selections for this season.

Kirk Herbstreit picked Clemson to win the ACC , saying he thinks “people are sleeping on Clemson.”

As for the other GameDay analysts — Desmond Howard, Nick Saban and Pat McAfee — who do they think will end up winning the ACC Championship in 2024?

Howard (Miami): “I have Cam Ward and the Miami Hurricanes. ‘The U’ is back.”

Saban (Florida State): “I think that Florida State and Clemson are neck-and-neck, with Miami also very competitive. But since Clemson has to go to Florida State, I pick Florida State. They may play again in the Championship Game, but they may get Miami. So, one of those three teams is going to come out of this. But I’m picking Florida State.”

McAfee (Virginia Tech): “Love NC State, love Clemson, love Florida State, love this Georgia Tech team because they got David Shanahan, the punter from Ireland bombing balls for them. But for me, longshot, Virginia Tech is who I absolutely love this year. Lot of returning starters, read-option quarterback, all offensive linemen are back. Going to be tough to handle, especially with the home-field advantage that they have.”

The 2024 ACC Football Championship Game is set for 8 p.m. ET on ABC on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This fall will be the first featuring 17 ACC football teams, and for the second consecutive season, the game will pit the top two teams based on regular-season conference winning percentage.
