During his press conference Tuesday, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked if he missed the live interactions with fans during his radio show Monday night.

“It was good. It was good to get back going and some good questions,” Swinney said. “Hopefully we’ll be able to cover a little more topics and get more done and have more than two or three people that call in.”

Monday night marked Swinney’s first radio show without live callers, as his longtime weekly radio show is no longer receiving live calls from fans and has instead transitioned to taking questions only through text message.

Under the new format, Swinney’s radio show – formerly “Tiger Calls” — has been renamed “Tiger Sports Hour.”

In a social media post , WCCP 105.5 FM The Roar told fans to text their questions for Swinney and “do not call because it won’t air.”

On Tuesday, Swinney was asked if the “Tyler from Spartanburg” call last year led to changing the format of his radio show.

Of course, Tyler called in last October and criticized Swinney, questioning him, his program and his salary, and Swinney fired back with an angry response. Clemson was 4-4 at the time before rattling off five straight wins following the call to end the season 9-4.

“And that’s what people will assume, and that was brought up in all the stuff,” Swinney said of what was behind the decision to change the format. “But actually internally, we had been talking about it for a while to make a change to the format and really look at what most other people were doing. Being able to take more questions, being able to talk more ball, being able to not just have two or three people that you spend the evening talking to.”

“But that certainly didn’t help the calls, that’s for sure,” Swinney added of the Tyler call. “But it’s all good, man. Tyler’s a great Clemson man and always will be.”

“Tiger Sports Hour” airs each Monday from 8-9 p.m. on The Roar . Fans can text 864-654-7627 to ask Swinney their question.
