Klubnik Delivers Message to Teammates Ahead of Georgia Week

CLEMSON — Though 14th-ranked Clemson is opening the season against top-ranked Georgia on Saturday, defensive lineman Peter Woods says the Tigers’ mindset around the Allen Reeves Football Complex is no different than it was when they opened fall camp at the beginning of the month.

It’s a mindset derived from a message quarterback Cade Klubnik delivered to his teammates earlier this week.

“I will just say, like Cade told us a couple days ago, that if your mindset is different than it was three weeks ago then you are not ready,” Woods said.

Clemson enters Saturday’s game as a two touchdown underdog against the Bulldogs, and many around the country are not giving the Tigers much of a chance to knock them off.

No preseason No. 1 team has lost a season opener since BYU beat Miami to start the 1990 season.

“What matters is what we believe in our facility and within our team,” Woods said. “We feel very confident and that’s based on preparation, nothing more, nothing less.”

Clemson and Georgia will kick off at noon. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.
