Don’t tell the players inside the Clemson locker room that the No. 14 Tigers are a two-touchdown underdog against top-ranked Georgia on Saturday in Atlanta.

With the season-opening matchup just days away, Dabo Swinney’s team is confident, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, with junior wideout Adam Randall maintaining that after a year in the system everyone is now much more comfortable in offensive coordinator Garrett Riley’s scheme.

“We’re really confident,” Randall said. “We got a lot of production back, a lot of guys back. Just being in the offense for a second year, everybody knows where to be.”

That comfort level has lead to the offense being much more productive on the practice fields. Now it just has to translate to the field of play on Saturday  against what is arguably one of the best defenses in the country.

“It’s really been exciting to see, just guys making plays,” Randall said. “We’re just confident. Shoot, I mean we know most of the time what formation, what plays will come and you’re just able to play confident, play fast when you know what you’re going to do beforehand. You’re able to read the shell of the defense, and you’re able to just do a lot more thinking.”

While the production at receiver has fallen off in recent years, Randall insists the Tigers now have the players to reverse that trend and that this group of wideouts have faith in their ability to compete against the number one team in the country.

“Play fast and confident. Make plays,” Randall said. “Make plays when they come to us. We have the ability within the room. Just got to be on the same page as the quarterbacks, but on the same page as everyone else so that we can go out there and make plays and be confident. Once the plays start coming, they will just start rolling down hill.”
